NFLC was started in 1992 to promote and support breastfeeding. We are comprised of a volunteer board with our activities funded by memberships and events.
The NFLC works to advance public awareness and acceptance of the importance of breastfeeding from birth, into the second year and beyond, and support a woman's right to breastfeed anytime and anywhere. We advocate that policies be established in the workplace and the right to breastfeed be endorsed as the optimal means of feeding infants.
Our vision: All babies will receive human milk.
Our mission is to encourage hospitals, physicians, nurses and other providers to promote breastfeeding and provide a supportive environment to mothers and to promote an understanding of the value of breastfeeding through evidence based educational lectures and scientific studies.
